In 1998 the founder of Verdieping 10, Sebastiaan Rompa, published the Atlas of Experience. This atlas contained 24 cartographic fantasy maps.
In the map, the names of regions, towns, rivers and mountains are inspired by everyday life. Regions such as Mountains of Work, Sea of Opportunities, Sources of Inspiration and towns with names like Change and Growth.
Recognisable expressions that have been mapped in such a way that they appeal to everyone’s imagination. The Atlas of Experience (created by Jean Klare, Louise van Swaaij, Ilja Maso and Saskia Sombeek) has been published in 17 languages.
Inspired by this very successful publication, Rompa started to receive requests from the business world to help put organisational processes on the map. This led to the development of Business Mapping and Personal Mapping.
